PRESS RELEASE

(from press release:) β€œI Stood My Ground features nine artists who offer a glimpse into stories that connect emotions and memories through different materials (magnet flakes, concrete, clay, etc.) and personal storytelling. … This exhibition is part of the 2024 Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos’ season titled Against the Grain, which seeks to challenge hegemonic narratives and advocate for the restitution of overlooked stories to build up a more inclusive historical account.”

My contribution, Fogiveness Part II, is a meditative mandala with many imperfections. It explores the complex process of forgiveness, emphasizing that it is not a singular act but an ongoing practice. While one may consciously choose to forgive, the emotional pain of the event can resurface, necessitating repeated acts of forgiveness. This work reflects the cyclical nature of healing, where past wounds require continuous attention and compassion.
